Sava Dunes Activities
Inhambane Coastline, Mozambique

The ocean is your playground at Sava Dunes, and you can sample a wide variety of activities like snorkelling, fishing, kayaking, whale and dolphin watching and boat trips.

A Top Pick of Sava Activities

Take a dip in the warm Indian Ocean, walk down the vast stretch of natural beach. If you’re in need of more intense activities, there’s big game fishing, ocean safaris boats (whale and dolphin watching), diving, snorkelling, kayaking and even horse riding.

There is a small wave in front of the lodge (wind dependent) that offers a great wave for bodyboarding, but the best surf is to be found just beyond Tofo. Remember, there is no set schedule at Sava Dunes so you can do what you feel like, as and when you feel like it.

Go Mingle With Tofo Locals

During your stay at Sava Dunes, you can also meet the inhabitants of Tofo village on an organised visit. Experience local life and get to witness how the locals conquer the sea at low tide, collecting clams, mussels and sea urchins for their daily meals.

Learn about the dhows flowing with the tide, and meet the fishermen who ensure there is fresh fish, lobster and prawns which make up all of those delicious dishes Tofo is known for. You’ll also find an excellent market here.

And Oh! The Food!

We can’t forget to mention the food at Sava Dunes with its restaurant offering a paired down and focused menu with every item prepared just right. Think tiger prawns, piri-piri chicken and fresh Portuguese rolls.

With the dining room leading out onto the main viewing deck, mealtimes are an event to look forward to, and just one of the daily rituals you will miss the most when you leave.

Don’t Forget to Simply Relax…

We’ve mentioned before that relaxation is considered as a top activity at Sava Dunes and it’s hard not to do so when you’re completely surrounded by the most glorious ocean views. The shimmering pool is just a few steps from your bedroom, the beach a few steps more.

Sprawl out on one of the sun loungers under an umbrella, or take up your new favourite spot on your own private balcony.
