Have a cultural experience while doing pottery and crafts and learn about the local community.

Set out on a romantic sunset sail in a traditional boat called a dhow. Savour the delicious local cuisine during a beach picnic and enjoy swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Relax on the beach under the palm trees and work on your tan or head out and enjoy optional activities such as snorkelling and diving. During your holiday in Mozambique, sail out to the many scenic islands in the region.

The Quirimbas National Park offers some of the best diving experiences in the world from shallow coral gardens to deep dives with schools of Barracuda and Sharks. Teenagers can do their diving qualification during their Mozambique holiday. Head on up to the look-out spot from which you see over the National Park – perhaps spot Elephants or other animals.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Pemba - Qurimbas National Park

On the first morning of your Quirimbas Cultural Beach Holiday Package, you will travel from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport to Pemba Airport. Once you have completed immigration, a guide will drive you through the scenic landscape to the Quirimbas National Park. This journey takes around 3 hours and you’ll stop off along the way to take photos.

Once you have arrived at your Mozambique beach lodge there will be time to settle in and sip on a refreshing drink. Have a walk along the beach or just relax and take in the sunset. The lodge management will tell you about all that is on offer in the area and help you plan your Mozambique holiday. Savour a delicious dinner before heading back to your room and drifting off to the sound of the surf.

Day 2 – 7: Quirimbas National Park

Spend the next 6 days exploring the area and enjoying one of the best cultural experiences. Start the day with a tasty breakfast, followed by a beach stroll. There are many things to do such as traditional archery on the beach. Learn about the local way of life while on a trip to a local school and village. Play a game of soccer with the staff against the village.

During your Mozambique holiday do some pottery and beading under the guidance of local crafters. This allows you to make your own souvenir to take home. Set out to explore the surrounding islands while sailing in a traditional Dhow. These activities allow you to learn about the local community and history of the region.

Dhows are traditional Arab inspired boats that have been used off the coastline for hundreds of years. After sailing around the islands spend some time soaking up the sun on the sandy beaches, followed by a sumptuous beach picnic where you can savour delectable treats.

Older children and teenagers can learn to scuba dive during their Mozambique holiday and get their PADI Open Water Certification. Arrange to go on diving excursions to some of the most pristine diving sites in the world. There are dives for all levels of experience, and you can see a huge variety of reef fish, Turtles, Barracuda, Stingrays and Reef Sharks. Between July and November, Whales are commonly seen.

Day 8: Quirimbas National Park - Pemba – Johannesburg

On the final day of your Quirimbas Cultural Beach Holiday there will be time for one last stroll along the beach, taking a few photographs and breakfast. Then you will be taken by boat to the airstrip on another island where you will catch a light aircraft flight back to Pemba.

The flight is a wonderful way to take in the beautiful scenery of the Mozambique coastline from the air. You will fly over the Quirimbas Archipelago. At Pemba you will catch a commercial flight back to Johannesburg, which will arrive in the late afternoon.
