The Fly to Maputo Experience

Our 4 Day Fly to Maputo Package allows first time visitors, especially couples the opportunity to experience the history, culture and traditions of Maputo in Mozambique. Explore this energetic coastal city while on a guided tour. Visit a local market and purchase curios such as intricately decorated local fabrics, carvings and souvenirs.

During your Mozambique holiday learn about the region’s interesting colonial past while on a tour of the Museum of Natural History. The city has a wonderful cultural tradition, and you can learn about its famous artists and see wonderful architecture while on a guided tour.

Go on a boat tour to beautiful Praia da Macaneta which is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Savour a picnic lunch on the beach where you will sample traditional dishes created using freshly caught local seafood. This tour offers picturesque views of the coastline. Head out on optional tours to Inhaca Island or arrange to go on snorkelling and diving expeditions.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Maputo

On the first day of your Fly to Maputo Package you will catch a flight from Johannesburg to Maputo. Once you have cleared immigration a driver will take you to your Mozambique accommodation. In the afternoon after you have settled in there will be the opportunity to go on a tour of Maputo.

This tour is conducted by a knowledgeable local guide, who will provide insights into the city’s history. The tour will take in the City Hall, the Botanical Gardens and the Fortress. It also includes a visit to the vibrant central market and Museum of Natural History. In the evening relax at the hotel and perhaps head out and enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants.

Day 2: Maputo

On the second day of your Mozambique holiday, you will have an early start. After a tasty breakfast you will be collected and head out by boat to the beautiful Macaneta beach. This trip provides fantastic views of Maputo. The beach is considered to be one of the best in the world. Many local fishermen land there and sell great local seafood.

Have a swim in the azure waters of the Indian Ocean or relax on the sandy beach and work on your tan. You will feast on a delicious picnic lunch on the beach which will consist of freshly caught seafood. In the afternoon once you have returned to the hotel, you can explore the city – perhaps head to the local markets which sell intricately patterned Batik fabrics, Cashew nuts and wooden carvings.

Day 3: Maputo

Day three of your Mozambique holiday can be spent at your leisure – want to soak up some rays by the pool? Perhaps hit the beach? Take in some more Maputo attractions? The choice is yours. If you are feeling energetic take part in a guided walk to learn about local artists and painters such as Pancho Guedos. This tour also allows you to see some fantastic local architecture from the 1970’s.

Alternatively, head out on an optional excursion to the historic Inhaca Island which is home to many species of birds. Optional activities include fantastic diving and snorkelling on reefs just off Inhaca Island. In the evening you might like to head out to a local restaurant for dinner and check out Maputo’s nightlife.

Day 4: Maputo – Johannesburg

On the final day of your Fly to Maputo Package you will enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then it will be time to take a few last photographs of the view, pack up and be driven back to the Maputo Airport, where you will catch a flight back to Johannesburg O. R. Tambo International Airport.

This 4 Day Fly to Maputo Package is based on 2 adults sharing a double room. Although it includes flights to/from Johannesburg, it can be taken from Cape Town and Durban.

This itinerary can be personalised to suit your requirements.
