Quirimbas Archipelago Marine National Park is a protected area that protects a coastal forest, mangroves and coral reefs.
If you’re on the hunt for remote beaches brimmed by gin-clear tropical waters, look no further than Mozambique’s Quirimbas Archipelago.
Set along the coast, parallel to Pemba, all the way up to the border of Tanzania, many of these 27 atolls are completely uninhabited, making them incredibly exclusive. Tourists are sparse, and at times you will feel like you have the entire island to yourself.
The islands range in size from petit coral sandbars, to larger islands laden with dense mangroves. If you fancy a spot of rustic island living, try the coconut-palmed, powder-white beaches of the smaller private islands like Medjumbe Private Island or even Vamizi and Quilalea, which are also known as being top diving spots. Ibo Island offers a good dose of cultural and history with its menege of Arabian, Portuguese and African influences.
