Baia Sonambula Guest House
Mozambique, Inhambane Coastline

Baia Sonambula Guest House offers the ultimate Mozambique beach holiday at Tofo Beach in Southern Mozambique's Inhambane Peninsula.

Why We Love it and You Will Too

  • Get the first pick when it comes to your favourite water sports, from surfing and kayaking to fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving.
  • There's nothing like having the warm, clear Indian Ocean right on your doorstep.
  • For a change in scenery, take a stroll through the dune forest, or paddle out on a canoe on Lake Dongane.
  • For a splash of culture, head over to the local Tofo markets, pop in at the dive centres and stop for a crisp 2M beer at one of the restaurants nearby.
  • Start your day with homemade breakfast served on the roof terrace, with a front-row view of the beach.
  • There are also plenty of opportunities to chill at Baia Sonambula.
  • There's nothing better than sitting back to watch dolphins and humpback whales (seen between June and October) right from your private bungalow.

Your Tofo Beach Experience

Baia Sonambula, which translates to "sleeping beach" is perfectly named as such due to its prime location along Tofo Beach in Mozambique.

This understated, stylish Mozambique beach hideaway is incredibly easy on the eye. Effortless design encompassing stone and thatch, adorned with flowering bougainvillaea adding a pop of natural colour. It's one of our favourites along the Mozambican coastline, mainly because it's small and intimate, yet never feels crowded.

Open spaces abound at this Mozambique guest house in Tofo, with plenty of secluded nooks and sitting areas scattered throughout the property. The staff are always available to offer a cold beverage exactly when you most need it.

The far-reaching views from the terrace are outstanding, and there's even a telescope on standby for whale watching (or star gazing). At night, keep your doors wide open and let the sound of the surf and the echoes of million seashells lulling you to sleep. In the morning, you'll wake to a perfect breakfast, complete with homemade marmalades, fresh fruits, bread and cakes paired with the most exquisite views. The rest of the day is yours for the taking.

Spending time at the Baia Sonambula is always a win and it won't be long until the endless stretch of tropical Mozambique beach lures you in. There is also an equally long list of sporting activities to keep you busy. There are plenty of local dive centres, bars, and a wide range of restaurants all conveniently within walking distance (about 150 metres) from Baia Sonambula. If you love seafood, you're in for a real treat...
