Marine Activities
Scuba Diving at Ibo Island Lodge, Quirimbas
Ibo Island Lodge offers an underwater playground for the casual diver and with some dramatic drop offs it will stimulate the more serious diver too. Undulating landscapes, a myriad of colours, tropical fish of all shapes and sizes, gentle currents, warm water and good visibility, all make for a perfect diving vacation.
Reefs, Walls, Wreck and Whales
Lighthouse dive site offers a sublime dive, starting at 10m this long wall drops down to 21m. Drift along a 1km long wall, observing huge coral tables, green tree coral, gardens of soft and hard coral with multi coloured tropical fish swimming all around, before slowly ascending to meet the boat.
Dive with dolphins and turtles from the Southern tip of Matemo. Search for the 100 year old wreck of an old coal steamer found just off a sandbank beach. Between July to September look for the migrating humpback whales, watch for their distinct long pectoral fins and knobbly head as they leap from the water. Listen for their haunting song as you dive on the pristine reefs, if you are lucky you may even see them under the water with you.
PADI Dive Courses
The resident diving instructor is available to begin your underwater adventure with courses designed for the complete beginner or to increase your knowledge and skills by conducting Adventure Dives to complete a PADI Advanced Diver certification.
Fishing
The waters surrounding the island are home to a myriad of exotic fish, including Marlin, Sailfish, Mackerel and the famous Bonefish.
Kayaking and Mangrove Forest Excursion
