Tofo Beach Activities at Baia Sonambula Guest House

Fill each day at this Mozambique Guest House with water-based activities along Tofo Beach like snorkelling, scuba diving, kayaking, and seasonal whale watching.

Don Your Mask and Make for the Water

Start by exploring the irresistible Indian Ocean, right on your doorstep. Scuba diving excursions can be arranged. Alternatively, you can grab a mask to snorkel and explore the reef just offshore from the lodge on your own. Visibility is an average 15 metres for the year at Tofo, with ranges up to 40 m during the clearer months between April and October.

Explore the Lake and Meet the Locals

When you've walked along the beach for as far as your eye can see, take a stroll through the dune forest to Lake Dongane. Here you can paddle its pristine waters in a kayak. If you're up for something tasty, you'll find a decent hub of Tofo bars and restaurants serving up the catch of the day, paired with something crisp and cold.

Keep an Eye on the Horizon

Between June and October, there's a very good chance of seeing humpback whales, and a whale watching tour will ensure you get up close for great views. If you're at Baia Sonambula during that time, keep your eye on the horizon during breakfast on the terrace.

Chances are you'll catch a glimpse of these majestic beasts breaching, lob-tailing and fin slapping right there in the bay.
