Day 1: Johannesburg - Maputo

On the first day of your Fly & Drive Mozambique Holiday Package you will catch an international flight from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport to Maputo. After landing and clearing immigration, collect a rental car and drive through Maputo to the hotel, perhaps stopping off to explore the city on the way.

See the sights and shop for supplies for the road, before enjoying the vibrant nightlife. Savour delicious international style meals at the hotel restaurant.

Day 2: Maputo - Inhambane- Praia do Tofo

After breakfast in the morning you will travel north of Maputo along the coastline of Mozambique to Praia do Tofo which is situated south of Inhambane. The road is in good condition and passes through a scenic landscape dotted with many picturesque local villages. Take along some snacks for the road or stop at a restaurant along the way for lunch.

That afternoon arrive at the comfortable guesthouse where you will stay. It is situated right on the coast and the rooms have wonderful sea views. Have a leisurely stroll along the beach to stretch your legs or perhaps have a dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Explore the village and savour a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants which serve tasty Mozambican inspired food.

Day 3 & 4: Praia do Tofo

Spend the next two days exploring the area. Head out on scuba diving expeditions to some of the best diving spots in Mozambique. Tofo is one of the best places in the world to go swimming with Mantas and see Whale Sharks. Turtles are often seen, and Humpback whales are commonly seen in the winter months.

Land lubbers can spend some time relaxing on the beach, working on their tan or set out to explore the region by quad bike during their Mozambique holiday. Gentle horseback rides along the beach are also popular. There are some hiking trails that provide the opportunity to see scenic vistas.

Day 5: Praia do Tofo - Vilanculos

After breakfast check out and travel from Praia do Tofo to Vilanculos. The road is tarred and in good condition. The route passes through some scenic countryside with many majestic baobabs. You will stay at a very comfortable beach lodge for the next 3 nights. It has a wonderful view over the bay of Vilanculos. Settle into your Mozambique accommodation and have a swim in the pool or head down to the beautiful beach.

In the evening sip on a refreshing tropical cocktail and watch the spectacular sunset before heading to the hotel restaurant for dinner. It is one of the best restaurants in Vilanculos and serves delicious food based on local seafood.

Day 6 – 8: Vilanculos

Spend the next few days enjoying water sports, swimming and snorkelling on the beautiful reefs nearby. Enjoy many activities during your Mozambique holiday - explore along the coastline while on a tranquil sunset cruise in a traditional boat called a dhow. Go on a boat cruise out to one of the renowned, beautiful islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago.

Relax on pristine sandy white beaches shaded by Palm trees or be pampered with an invigorating spa treatment. Feeling adventurous? Try deep sea fishing for game fish such as Tuna, Wahoo and Marlin. Learn about the vibrant mix of cultures in Mozambique while on a trip to a local village and purchase a memento of your Mozambique holiday at the craft market.

Day 9: Vilanculos - Bilene

Have a last stroll down the beach before breakfast, and then pack up and drive back south down the coast to Bilene. The region is noted for its calm clear lagoon which is ideal for swimming or snorkelling. Set out to explore the bay on a canoeing excursion, perhaps squeeze in a wind surfing lesson or go sailing. Alternately, just relax on the near sandy white beach.

Day 10: Bilene – Maputo

Have one last swim in the warm Indian Ocean or a walk along the beach before savouring a delicious breakfast. Then drive back to Maputo where you will drop off the rental car at the airport. Catch a flight to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo international Airport.
