Ponta D’Ouro, Southern Mozambique is known for its superb snorkelling, marine life and scuba diving. A fully equipped dive operator goes out directly from Kaya Kweru and Ocean Safaris are also available.
A variety of restaurants and pubs as well as a market and small grocery store are a stroll away from Kaya Kweru. Ponta D’Ouro, Southern Mozambique is 120km (75 miles) from Maputo. The resort is 10km (6 miles) from the South African Border in Kosi Bay. Both routes are along sandy roads requiring a 4x4 vehicle.
Directions to Kaya Kweru
Guests who do not own a 4x4 vehicle can choose from a variety of alternatives to get to the resort. A Kaya Kweru transfer from Kosi Bay can be booked in advance. Guests then drive in a regular car from Durban or Johannesburg to the border and leave it in the secure parking there before meeting the pre-arranged transfer. The parking is available for a reasonable daily fee.
Shuttle transport can also be arranged from Maputo to Ponta D’Ouro. The shuttle travels twice a week on this route. Other bus services and taxis in South Africa travel from Durban to Hluhluwe and then onto Kosi Bay. Contact a Siyabona Travel Consultant for more details.
Self-Drive from Durban
From Durban take the N2 towards Hluhluwe, follow the signs to Mbazwana, and Kwa-Ngwanase. The border is about 20km (12 miles) after the town of Manguzi.
