Things to do at Nuarro
Watersport lovers can enjoy Nuarra Lodge activities year round in sheltered Memba Bay. Fantastic whale watching from the shore and from a boat is possible from June to November. These beautiful creatures swim right into the bay during the day and their haunting calls can be heard at night.
Scuba Diving at Nuarro Lodge
Nuarro Lodge offers both exciting shore and boat dives. The close proximity of the continental shelf allows for some easy but interesting shallow shore dives to plunging walls and wreck diving. Based in the protected Nanatha Bay, on the Baixo do Pinda Península, diving is within a marine reserve where illegal fishing has been banned, allowing for some spectacular diving.
The bay is ideal for all level of divers, from the complete novice to the seasoned diver using a rebreather or Nitrox. Water conditions are warm, calm with an average visibility of 20m+. Various eco systems can be explored, tropical coral reefs, caves, pinnacles, vertical walls, drop offs, a wreck and muck diving. Small exclusive dive groups, the only other divers you’ll see underwater are part of your group. Excellent for underwater photography too, with some great macro and gorgonians for wide-angle shots.
Experience a novel way to view marine life on a night dive - try Glow Diving. Most marine life exhibits some kind of bioluminescence, which when viewed with a fluorescent light glows like you’ve never seen before. With the use of blue lights and special filters on a night dive, witness the reef light up, like an underwater disco. Catch the popular fluo dive bug, your night dives will never be the same again.
Nuarro Lodge is a closed circuit rebreather friendly dive destination, the only one found in Northern Mozambique. 100% oxygen at 200 bar, sodasorb, training and support are all available here. Two rental units are on hand, so you can always dive with a buddy.
Explore more of the reef using an underwater scooter. Take an Advanced Open Water Course and choose the Diver Propulsion Vehicle elective as one of your Adventure Dives.
